A theater director, Collins helmed short films in the late 1920s and his first feature in 1930, The Devil's Pit, which he also wrote. He helmed a steady stream of low-budget actioners into the early '50s, including crime films (Reformatory, Passport to Alcatraz) and westerns (Oklahoma Raiders, The Old Texas Trail).
