• Made his professional theatre debut as Tim in Noises Off at the Savoy Theatre in 1983.

• Played the titular role in the stage play Alex, based on a cartoon strip by Charles Peattie and Russell Taylor in 2007; presented a ten-part series on Classic FM as the character Alex Masterley, which won a Gold Award at the Sony Radio Academy Awards in 2011.
• In 2011, appeared as Charles Condomine alongside his Cold Feet co-star Hermione Norris in the revival of Noël Coward's Blithe Spirit at the Apollo Theatre.
