San Francisco native Tim Kang studied at UC Berkley and Harvard before embarking on a professional acting career in the early 2000s, soon scoring a recurring role on the series Third Watch. He would make regular appearances on television over the coming years, eventually landing a starring role on the series The Mentalist playing Kimball Cho. He landed his first prominant big-screen role with a part in 2008's Rambo.
