• Developed his iconic bowl haircut by cutting his hair himself as a child.
• Dropped out of school to begin performing in vaudeville.
• Began performing with Ted Healy in a vaudeville act in 1921. During a performance in 1923, Moe's brother Shemp began heckling them from the audience and was brought into the act. In 1925, vaudeville violinist Larry Fine joined the act, and The Three Stooges were born. (Moe's other brother, Curly Howard, eventually replaced Shemp.)
• Attempted to leave show business after marrying his wife, but found no success with other jobs.
• Enjoyed a resurgence in popularity in the late 1950s, when The Three Stooges shorts were released to TV, leading to more Stooges shorts and a TV series.
• Began a second career selling real estate in the '60s.
• Was in the process of writing his autobiography, which he called I Stooged to Conquer, when he died of lung cancer in 1975. After his death, the book was retitled Moe Howard and the Three Stooges and released in 1977.
