"The Pope of Pop Cinema" was a pioneer in independent film, creating a stable of low-budget cult movies including Death Race 2000, Little Shop of Horrors, and A Bucket of Blood.
Additionally, Corman gave a vital leg up to Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro, Peter Bogdanovich, Francis Ford Coppola, Jonathan Demme, and James Cameron.
