An imposing-looking character actress, Florence Oberle enjoyed most success in the films of bucolic star Charles Ray. She was, for example, his aunt in the light comedy R.S.V.P. (1921) and the girl's (Ora Carew) mother in the drama Smudge (1922). Oberle was the wife of stage actor Thomas Oberle, who had appeared in the original Broadway production of Augustus Thomas' Western play Arizona (1900).
