Biography by AllMovie

A pioneering American screen actress, soulful-looking stage ingenue Marian Swayne turned to films in 1911, when she was engaged as leading woman of the Solax company, a producing concern headed by the first woman to make a mark on the burgeoning film industry, the French Alice Guy-Blaché. Swayne later appeared for the United Company and Arrow but her career was decidedly on the wane by the 1920s. After a couple of independently produced melodramas, Swayne retired from films in 1924.
