Biography by AllMovie

One of the busiest screenwriters of the 1910s, Catherine Carr (née Wooldridge) had made her name as a short story writer prior to entering films as a reader for the pioneering Vitagraph company in the very early 1910s. Carr enjoyed an early success with The Whirl of Life (1915), starring the incredibly popular dance team of Vernon and Irene Castle and a very young Ruth Gordon, and went on to become associated with various Universal companies. Specializing in romantic melodramas, Carr's output diminished greatly in the early '20s and she seems to have retired after delivering the screenplay for The Temple of Venus, an allegorical fantasy featuring 1922 WAMPAS Baby Star Mary Philbin.
