Italian author Curzio Malaparte (born Kurt Eric Suckert in Prato, Italy) is best known for writing such novels as Kaputt. He wrote, directed, and scored one film, Il Cristo Proibito, in 1950. In 1953, it was released in the U.S. as Strange Deception. He was in the process of creating another film, Il Compagno P., when he died of cancer.
