Japanese actor Minoru Chiaki made 11 films with renowned director Akira Kurosawa, making him one of the most recognized actors from that country. Chiaki's film debut occurred in 1949, with Kurosawa's film Stray Dog. The remainder of his collaborations with the director would be in supporting role capacities, with his highest billed role coming in The Hidden Fortress in 1958. In his later years, Chiaki became a staple of the small screen, appearing in several Japanese television dramas. He died in late 1999.
