Italian singer/songwriter and actor Domenico Modugno's career spanned the '50s through the '70s; he was best-known for singing the international hit "Volare," which Modugno co-wrote. Other hits include "Piove." His success as a singer led to a sporadic film career that began in 1961. In the 1980s, Modugno became interested in politics and in 1987 he was elected to the Italian Chamber of Deputies.
