British stage actor/director Arthur Maude made his screen acting debut in 1914's Jesse, which he also scripted. Among Maude's silent-film roles was Jean-Paul Marat in another 1914 production, Charlotte Corday. His film directorial credits include The Ringer (1928), I Live Again(1936) and Boomerang (1938). Even after establishing himself as a director, Arthur Maude kept his hand in acting, appearing in such talkies as Head of the Family and The Thirteenth Candle (both 1933).
