Supporting actor O.Z. Whitehead made his professional acting debut on the New York stage, where he appeared opposite starlets Katharine Hepburn and the Gish sisters. He made his film debut in the 1935 drama The Scoundrel and subsequently appeared in close to 30 films, notably John Ford's The Grapes of Wrath (1940).
