biography
Obie Benz is a social activist and heir to a baking empire. Among the socially conscious organizations he was part of was the MUSE Foundation through which he produced the No Nukes documentary. He later became a writer and director. In 1981, he directed Americas in Transition a documentary short that chronicled U.S. involvement in Latin America. He did not make his feature-film debut until seven years later with Heavy Petting, a satirical psuedo-documentary that examined the sexual mores of the 1950s.
