Molly Haskell was one of the first U.S. feminist film critics to emerge in the '70s. Since then she has written reviews for a variety of periodicals including The Village Voice, Film Comment, and Film Heritage. She is perhaps most recognized for her book From Reverence to Rape (1974), which presented the thesis that women's roles in films have steadily become increasingly degraded.
