Slovakian filmmaker Martin Holly has spent most of his career as an independent director for Slovak Feature Film Studio in Bratislava; he also worked for Czechoslovakian television. A graduate of Prague's FAMU in 1953, Holly began working at Bratislava's Documentary Film Studio and remained there until 1957, when he moved to Barrandov Film Studio to work as an assistant director. He made his directorial debut in 1962 with Havrania Cesta/Raven's Flight.
