Minnesota native Mark Steven Johnson began entering the Hollywood scene in the early '90s, penning the script to 1993's Grumpy Old Men. He went on to write the scripts for movies like Big Bully and Jack Frost, even after making his directorial debut with 1998's Simon Birch. Johnson would continue his career as a screenwriter, however, helping to adapt the comic books Elektra, Daredevil, and Ghost Rider, the latter two of which he directed as well. In 2010, the helmer changed gears from action to romance, taking on the Kristen Bell romantic comedy When in Rome.
