Marco Bellocchio on AllMovie

After making short films and documentaries in the early 1960s, Bellocchio won international fame with his first feature, the powerful incest drama I Pugni In Tasca (aka Fist in His Pocket). Other stylish and provocative political dramas followed, most notably La Cina E Vicina (China is Near) and Nel Nome Del Padre (In the Name of the Father). Bellocchio lost none of his rebel status in the ensuing years, and most recently has assaulted bourgeois sensibilites with Salto Nel Vuoto (Leap Into The Void); Gli Occhi, La Bocca (The Eyes, The Mouth), his follow-up to I Pugni In Tasca; and the controversial Diavolo In Corpo (Devil In The Flesh), his X-rated updating of Raymond Radiguet's novel.
