biography
Portuguese filmmaker Manuela Viegas studied economics at Oporto University and attended the Film and Drama School in Lisbon. Since the end of the '70s, she has worked as an editor and occasionally as an assistant director. She has also collaborated in screenplays. Her publications include film and theater reviews and a catalogue on British documentary film. Her first film as a director was Gloria (1998).
