Laurence Mark on AllMovie

Laurence Mark rose through the Hollywood ranks to become an important producer and the owner of Laurence Mark Productions. A graduate of Wesleyan University, with a master's in cinema from New York University, Mark briefly worked as an executive trainee at United Artists and then worked as a producer's assistant during the mid-'70s. For a time, he worked in publicity and marketing at Paramount Pictures and was then promoted to be the company's Vice President of West Coast marketing. From there, he was promoted to Vice President of Production at Paramount. He left Paramount to become the Executive Vice President of production at 20th Century Fox. He began producing films directly in 1987, with the film Black Widow. In addition to producing and executive producing numerous feature films, Mark has also produced television shows and the occasional Broadway show.
