Striking newscaster Julie Chen was born in Queens, NY, in 1970. She switched coasts for college, graduating from the University of Southern California in 1991 with a degree in broadcast journalism and English, and shortly thereafter, she began contributing to the ABC News program Nightline. In 1995 she became a reporter for the CBS affiliate WDTN-TV in Dayton, OH. Then, in 1997, Chen became an anchor for The Early Show and later joined the CBS Morning News, gaining her national notoriety. It was in 2000 that this notoriety led to an even more prominent job, when she became the host of the American version of the popular reality show Big Brother.
