biography
A successor/rival to the immensely popular Wesley Barry, Johnny Fox (aka John Fox Jr.) was gifted with an unusual and, to some, quite alarming amount of freckles. His characters were usually called just that, "Freckles," and it was inevitable that he should play Gene Stratton-Porter's determined little hero of that name. Freckles was filmed by low-budget company FBO in 1928. Although he received fine reviews, Fox's film career did not survive the transition to sound. He should not be confused with John Fox Jr., author of Trail of the Lonesome Pine.
