British actress Joan Francis often worked on television during the 1950s and 1960s. Followers of the early-'60s British series Coronation Street may remember Francis for having played Dot from 1961 to 1969. In 1966, she made her only feature film appearance, in Francois Truffaut's adaptation of Ray Bradbury's novel Fahrenheit 451. She spent most of the1970s and 1980s on the London stage. In the late '80s, Francis became a regular on The Brothers McGregor but was forced to leave the show after she suffered a debilitating stroke.
