biography
Distinguished French actor Jean Le Poulain got his start after winning a first prize for his comedy while studying at the Paris Conservatoire in the late '40s. He tried out for the prestigious Comedie Francaise troupe, but the manager felt that Le Poulain was too low-brow. In 1986, after a long successful career on stage, screen and particularly television, Le Poulain got sweet revenge when Francois Mitterand appointed the comic the new director of the Comedie Francaise.
