biography
Czech filmmaker and screenwriter Jaroslav Balík studied film direction at FAMU from 1947 to 1952 while gaining valuable experience as an assistant and second unit director at the Barrandov Film Studio. Balik made his first film, Bomba/The Bomb, in 1957. He usually co-writes his scripts, and one of his most frequent collaborators is Jan Otcenasek. In addition to his work in feature films, Balik often directs television movies and other productions; he also lectures occasionally at FAMU.
