biography
French filmmaker Jacques Baratier was first a lawyer, a journalist and a drama critic before joining the film industry as an assistant director. He began directing short films in 1949 and continued in this capacity until 1956. Some of these little films received international awards. He made his feature film debut in 1958 with Goha.
