biography
Spanish filmmaker J.A. Salgot is best known for producing and directing Mater Amatisima/Mother, Dearly Beloved (1980), a dramatic tale of euthanasia and autism penned by Bigas Luna. Before entering the film industry, Salgot earned a degree in economics from the Universidad de Barcelona. As a director, Salgot honed his skills with a few short films and co-directorial efforts with Carles Jover. In 1977, the two founded their own production company, Imatco S.A. In addition to making feature films, Salgot is a noted painter and draftsman.
