Biography by AllMovie

A stage actor, director, and playwright who had appeared opposite the legendary Mrs. John Drew in Philadelphia, Jay Hunt entered films as a director for various Universal companies in the early 1910s. He later spent two years with producer Thomas Ince and, later still, directed Texas Guinan Westerns in Bisbee, AZ. Concentrating his energies on acting in the 1920s, Hunt appeared in many of the decade's more notable films, including playing a prospector in John Ford's Three Bad Men (1926). One of Hollywood's oldest performers, Hunt continued his screen career until shortly before his death in 1932.
