biography
British documentarian Hugh Falkus made such films as Drake's England (1951) and Shark Island (1952). For the BBC, he made science films and during the early '70s, he worked with Nobel Prize-winning zoologist Nkio Tinbergen on such wildlife documentaries as The Riddle of the Rook (1972). Two of his films, Self-Portrait of a Happy Man and Salmo, were somewhat autobiographical. In addition to filmmaking, Falkus was a champion fly fisherman and not only wrote books about the sport, but also starred in documentaries about it.
