While working as an extra for director Maurice Tourneur, Philadelphia-bred beauty-contest winner Hope Hampton was discovered by Jules Brulatour, and she went on to feature prominently in several of the films he financed. Though Hampton never wowed anyone with her acting ability, her personal involvement with Brulatour insured her appearance in a number of films financed by him. In 1923, Hampton wed Brulatour, and they remained married until his death in 1946. After she became Mrs. Brulatour, she appeared in films only sporadically and became far more well-known as a socialite, making appearances at nearly every fashionable event in New York City until her death in 1982 at the age of 84.
