Noted production designer Herman A. Blumenthal was known for his versatility and for his imaginative, highly detailed sets. Blumenthal, who got his start in 1934, has worked on a wide variety of film genres ranging from straight drama (Three Faces of Eve) to sci-fi (Journey to the Center of the Earth) to costume epics (Cleopatra) to lavish musicals (Hello Dolly!). During his career he won two Oscars one for Cleopatra (1963) and one for Hello Dolly! (1968).
