biography
A soulful brunette actress from the Ukraine, Hedda Nova became an early star for the pioneering Vitagraph Company, appearing in such melodramas as The Changing Woman (1918) and the serial The Woman in Red (1918). Nova's popularity was fleeting, however, and by the 1920s she was starring in cheap Westerns and other low-budget genre films. Nova retired from the screen prior to sound.
