biography
A leading man with Chicago's Hopkins Stock Company and a popular musical comedy heavy, Harry Schumm entered films with Universal in 1913. Appearing in such productions as Doorway of Destruction (1915) and the serial The Broken Coin (1915), Schumm became a favorite of director/star Francis Ford (older brother of John), who usually cast the heavyset, dark-haired actor in villainous roles. Schumm left films in favor of the legitimate stage in 1920.
