biography
Born in 1958, Mexican screenwriter Guillermo Arriaga is best known for his frequent collaborations with director Alejandro González Iñárritu, beginning with 2000's critically acclaimed Amores Perros. However, he also won high marks and a Best Screenplay award at Cannes for penning 2005's The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, a film directed by Tommy Lee Jones. In 2006, Arriaga's script for the Iñárritu-helmed Babel scored him his first Golden Globe and Oscar nominations.
