biography
Spanish director Gonzalo Herralde made his feature-film debut with La Muerte del Escorpión/The Death of the Scorpion (1975). Before becoming a filmmaker, Herralde studied medicine at the Universidad de Barcelona until a political incident resulted in his expulsion. Afterward, Herralde joined a theater company and studied film at the Institut de Formation Cinématographique in Paris. In addition to film direction, Herralde has also worked in television.
