Geza von Cziffra left his native Hungary and moved to Berlin, Germany just after WWI. The place and time later inspired him to pen numerous novels and a pair of memoirs. After the Nazis took over, von Cziffra became a scriptwriter. In the early '40s, he became a director and specialized in extravagant musicals such as Der Weisse Traum (1943). His numerous films and screenplays were not only popular during WWII, but also remained popular through the '50s and beyond.
