Biography by AllMovie

Former vaudevillian George Holt (born George Anselm Holt) began his screen career with Lubin in Philadelphia and later played villains for the Los Angeles Vitagraph company. By the late 1910s, Holt was directing Universal's Spur and Saddle series and also helmed very obscure B-Westerns featuring the likes of Franklyn Farnum and Dick Hatton. He returned to acting in the sound era, retiring in the mid-'30s. There was a later German actor of the same name.
