biography
An imposing, white-haired supporting actor from Australia, Fred Esmelton came to films in the mid-1910s after having spent 21 years on legitimate stages in Australia, Canada, and the United States. Specializing in playing authority figures, Esmelton is perhaps best remembered for portraying House Peters' criminologist nemesis in the 1925 version of Raffles.
