Biography by AllMovie

A graduate of Albany Law School, Fred E. Wright was a stage manager for years before entering films with Pathé in 1914. The following year, he signed with the Chicago-based Essanay company and went on to direct such popular successes as Graustark (1915), starring the team of Francis X. Bushman and Beverly Bayne, and Prince of Graustark (1916), starring Bryant Washburn, both based on George Barr McCutcheon's novel. The husband of actress Nell Craig, whom he directed in such melodramas as The Breaker (1915), Fred E. Wright should not be confused with British stage and screen actor Fred Wright (1871-1928).
