biography
One of the silent era's many colorful villains, hatchet-faced Frank Lanning specialized in playing American Indians, mixed-race characters, and even Asians. Among the many highlights of his nearly 20-year screen career, Lanning portrayed Injun Joe in Jack Pickford's version of Huck and Tom (1918) and was Harold Lloyd's hillbilly nemesis in The Kid Brother (1927). He retired from the screen in 1934.
