Feliks Falk on AllMovie

Part of '70s Poland's "cinema of moral unrest," filmmaker Feliks Falk is best known for two satirical social comedies, both employing the same protagonist. The first, Wodzirej/Top Dog (1978), starred comedian Jerzy Stuhr as Danielak, a young man who goes to extremes to land himself a job in his small hometown. The sequel Bohater Roku/Hero of the Year followed Danielak (again played by Stuhr) as he vainly tries to manipulate a newly installed official. Falk originally studied painting at Warsaw's Academy of Fine Arts and graduated in 1966. In 1974, he graduated from the Lodz Film School with a specialty in film direction and shortly thereafter joined Andrzej Wajda's "X" Production Unit. Falk made his directorial debut with Obrazki z Zycia/Pictures from a Life (1975).
