A 1923 WAMPAS Baby Star, raven-haired American silent screen actress Ethel Shannon reclined in a luxurious DeMillian bathtub in Daughters of the Rich (1923), winning the approval of male audiences everywhere. But usually Shannon was found in more strenuous circumstances, performing yeoman duty opposite such cowboy stars as Hoot Gibson and Harry Carey. She appeared opposite the latter in The Texas Trail (1925) and the New York Times proclaimed her "one of the best leading women for this kind of photoplay." Despite good reviews like this Shannon left films in 1927 to marry publicist Joe Jackson. She returned to the screen after Jackson's tragic death by drowning in 1934, but only obtained work as an extra.
