biography
Although she often claimed her birthplace to be Genoa, Italy, brunette silent screen star Dolores Cassinelli, "The Cameo Girl of the Movies," hailed from rather more prosaic Chicago, IL, where she had embarked on a screen career with the local Essanay company in 1911. Dark and dramatic, Cassinelli was especially effective in tandem with French actor/producer/director Léonce Perret, who guided her through several highly melodramatic World War I }\dramas} including Lafayette, We Come (1918) and Unknown Love (1919). She later played Pocahontas in Jamestown and Queen Isabella in Columbus, retiring from films in 1925.
