Biography by AllMovie

Though he began his career in the early '20s, Michigan-born editor Doane Harrison is best known for his later collaborations with director Billy Wilder. After working with Harrison on Mitchell Leisen's Midnight (1939) and Hold Back the Dawn (1941), Wilder personally requested that Harrison edit his directing debut, The Major and the Minor (1942). Harrison remained by Wilder's side for the next two decades, first as his editor and then as his associate producer. Their partnership spawned several of history's most memorable American films -- Double Indemnity (1944), Sunset Boulevard (1950), Some Like It Hot (1959), and The Apartment (1960) -- and lasted until Harrison's death on November 11, 1968.
