biography
German actress Dita Parlo was a star of German and French films who also worked briefly in Hollywood. Born in Stettin, Germany, she trained at the UFA drama school, rising quickly to stardom after making her film debut in 1928. She tried her luck in U.S. films in 1931 but after two years and no success, Parlo then moved to France where she enjoyed considerable popularity until she was forcibly returned to Germany following the beginning of WWII.
