Filmmaker Dick Bird is best known for making documentaries, particularly nature features during the '40s, '50s, and '60s. Born and raised in England, he moved to Vermont as a teenager. He broke into the film industry while still a teenager after he used a hand-cranked camera to shoot footage of Barney Oldfield's relocated to Saskatchewan and made local documentaries there for the provincial government.
