biography
Viennese operetta and recording star Grete Natzler appeared onscreen both in Germany and in the United Kingdom, notably in The Scotland Yard Mystery (1933) (aka The Living Dead) and as Princess Helene in The Student's Romance (1935), the songs from which she recorded to great acclaim. Brought to Hollywood by Paramount in 1937, she changed her name to the less Germanic Della Lind and achieved some measure of immortality opposite Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy in Swiss Miss (1938). It proved her final screen appearance but late in life, Lind became a popular guest at various Sons of the Desert gatherings honoring the legendary comedy team.
