Cruz Delgado on AllMovie

Spanish filmmaker Cruz Delgado specialized in animated short films and features for children. Following fine arts studies in Madrid, Delgado started out as a children's magazine cartoonist. In 1956, he began working with Estudios Moro, an animated film company that primarily made commercials. Delgado then moved to Brussels in 1961 to join Belvision Studios and worked there until 1963 when he founded his own production company, Estudios Cruz Delgado. Some of the better known animated shorts to emerge from his company include El Gato con Botas/Puss in Boots (1964), Mágicka Aventura/Magical Adventure (1968), and El Buque Fantasma (1968). Delgado's first theatrically released feature, Mágicka Aventura/Magical Adventure (1973), was actually a compilation of those three shorts. His last feature, Los 4 Musicos de Bremen/The 4 Bremen Musicians, was released in 1989.
