The son of film director Ronald Neame, producer Christopher Neame became successful in his own right as the man behind such beloved British TV series as Danger UXB, The Flame Trees of Thika, and The Irish R.M. Born in Windsor, Berkshire, Neame began his career as a production manager for Hammer Films, assisting on movies like Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed and Blood from the Mummy's Tomb. He went on to produce a number of popular TV shows in his native England, many with a historical bent like Flame Trees and Soldier Soldier. Neame also nurtured a career as a screenwriter, penning films such as 1969's The Love Factor and 1995's The Feast of July, as well as a Great Performances adaptation of Don Quixote. The multi-talented producer even took his skills to the stage, cowriting the music and lyrics for the stage musical Courtenay in 2003 and the opéra bouffe Lyssi in 2006. Neame passed away in June 2011 at the age of 68.
