Montreal-born WWE wrestler Chris Benoit battled his way to the top of the ranks in his sport, culling a myriad of prestigious titles along the way that included Intercontinental Champion and World Heavyweight Champion, and sweeping up many Tag Team honors. Benoit quickly earned the moniker "The Canadian Crippler" for his violent, take-no-prisoners approach. Tragically, Benoit died young, amid upsetting and enigmatic circumstances. About a month after his 40th birthday, the wrestler declined to participate in a pay-per-view match for personal reasons. Authorities subsequently found his dead body, along with those of his wrestling-manager wife and their son, in their Atlanta-area home. A subsequent police investigation confirmed that Benoit murdered his family and then took his own life.
